Lela Aisha Jones is a native of Tallahassee, FL and resides in Philadelpha, PA. She is the founder of FlyGround—her creative home with work focused in memoir, social commentary and diasporic movement practice. She is also a co-founder of The Requisite Movers–a service and presenting organization that supports the artistic work of women choreographers of African descent. FlyGround experiences are in a genre of their own but never too far from home. We dance. We walk coherently through cultures and traditions meeting where we can and realizing where we are varied. We are grounded in native US vibes. We are home grown traces of many. We are consciously here.
Lauren Putty White is a flourishing and versatile dance artist.
She received her BFA from University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2005, later that same year she made her first professional choreography debut at the Elan Awards in New York, with her work “The Third Layer”. Choreographically, Lauren set company works on Washington Reflections Dance Company entitled, “Shades of Thought” in 2007 and Ballet X 2010 she premiered her piece, “Hide”, on their spring series at the Wilma Theater. As a dancer Lauren has performed with Washington Reflections, Urban Bush Woman 2, the Opera Company of Philadelphia, Parsons Dance Company and currently performs with Philadanco.
